Château de Chillon is considered as one of the most beautiful castles and also among the most visited castles in Switzerland. The castle houses several gothic dungeons and medieval frescos. The location of the castle at Lake Geneva makes it a must visit site in Montreux for tourists. It was strategically built on a small rocky island on the Lake Geneva for the purpose of defense. The castle is a masterpiece of architecture and beauty from outside and inside. You can visit the whole castle in around 1.5 hours, but I will definitely take more time because I will stop at the highest tower of the castle for extra hours. The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking and I would love to soak myself into the views and breath in the peace and tranquility.
Old Town of Montreux Switzerland
The Old Town of Montreux is situated on the steep slopes and is sometimes difficult to reach for those who are unprepared. However, you do not need so much preparation, it is just a short walk from the shoreline of the Lake Geneva. The Old Town is surrounded by lush forest, beautiful lake and many old buildings surrounded by mountains. There are also some nice restaurants here, so you can walk around explore the area and have some food with amazing views.
Montreux Jazz Festival
The Montreux Jazz Festival is a world-famous event that takes place in Montreux with a high reputation for its musical performances by famous artists. Initially, the festival was only dedicated to Jazz but then it became diverse and many other musical forms were added into it which made it even more wonderful. Many famous stars like Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, BB King, Oscar Peterson and other have performed in the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Queens Studio in Montreux Switzerland
The legendary band Queens was also among those who fell in love with the town and decided to merge with the locals. Queens showed their love for the town by buying a studio in Montreux. They used this very studio to record seven of their albums including their last one “Made in Heaven”. You can visit this studio free of charge to experience the Queens band music and learn more about them. There are stage costumes of Freddie Mercury, handwritten lyrics, signatures, photographs, and old tapes on display. The control room of the studio has been preserved in its original shape and provides an interactive experience for the visitors.

This statue was placed in the memory of the famous singer who spent many days of his life in Montreux because of his love for the town. Promenade of Montreux Switzerland
The beautiful promenade of Montreux is a 3.5-kilometer path between the Château de Chillon and Clarens. The promenade is a very enchanting path to enjoy during springtime because it is filled with lovely blossoms. It is one of the most romantic places to walk along the lakeside and to relax with fantastic scenery around you. The promenade of Montreux is a wonderful place for morning walks, evening walks, jogging, or relaxing near the beautiful lake while looking at the lovely views of the Château de Chillon standing in the water.
You can start your promenade walk from the center of Montreux to Villeneuve which will take approximately 1.5 hours. This way will also lead you to the wonderful views of the Chillon Castle and you can enjoy the amazing Dents du Midi mountain range. In the end you will reach at the beach of Villeneuve. You would love to explore the little town of Villeneuve or you can also choose to relax and swim at the beach.
Montreux Palace Switzerland
Montreux Palace is located close to the shoreline of Lake Geneva and is surrounded by the scenery of Swiss Alps.
